Team London
The three London based stakeholder Lesbian and Gay choirs: The Pink Singers, The London Gay Men’s Chorus and Diversity Choir created Various Voices London: a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity, to run but not exclusively the Various Voices London 2009 Festival.
Festivals Director Martin Brophy leads the 20 strong Team London and brings together volunteers drawn from the stakeholder choirs as well as professionals and in-kind professionals from all over the south-east of England to plan and coordinate the Various Voices London 2009 Festival, as well as other events.
The team's work covers key strategic planning, policy making, logistics, project management, artistic vision, choir liaison, hosting coordination, delegate support, registrations, board and trustee responsibilities, performance production, marketing, merchandising, public relations, information technology, fundraising, social coordinating, volunteer coordination, venue coordinating, translating organisation, special events, outreach, community partnerships, legacy, stakeholder liaison and reporting, corporate affairs: governance, teams support, administration, budgeting, finance, accounting, contracting and legal affairs.
The team has monthly planning meetings in central London and work with the on-line project management system in pairs or small teams. If you would like offer support or work in some capacity please email the team.
Team London is working with the Mayor of London, Visit London, Hotelopia and Design for Diversity to plan and organise the Various Voices London festival, with curating, financial and operational support in partnership with the Southbank Centre. The team has been successfully in applying for a grant from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation as well as a number of Vanguard Patrons, with the financial support from the three stakeholder choirs. We are actively working to secure other corporate, charitable and individual sponsors, partners and patrons.
Volunteer recruitment and training can be quite diverse and specialised and can lead to personal as well as career enhancement and in some cases build towards and NVQ qualifications. Team London has put respect, responsibility and recognition at the heart of our volunteering, championing success and emulating best practice to work and achieving together.
